The Phantom Centenary Private Collection: A Golden Reflection of 100 Years of Excellence

Published 22 October 2025

As the Rolls-Royce Phantom marks its centenary, the marque pays tribute to a century of unmatched craftsmanship with an extraordinary creation: the Phantom Centenary Private Collection. Limited to just 25 examples, this landmark edition represents the most ambitious and technically advanced Bespoke project in the company’s history. Developed over three years by the artisans of the Bespoke Collective, the collection tells the story of Phantom’s remarkable journey, from its birth in 1925 to its enduring presence as the ultimate symbol of luxury and achievement. Chief Executive Chris Brownridge describes it as “a tribute to the world’s most revered luxury item, a statement that celebrates the ambition, artistry, and historical gravitas that have defined Phantom for a century.” Every detail within this limited series has been conceived not merely as ornament, but as narrative, each texture, stitch and engraving a page in the living history of the Rolls-Royce legend.

A legacy cast in gold

Beneath the sculpted bonnet, the 6.75-litre V12 engine stands as a monument to mechanical serenity. To mark the centenary, the engine cover is finished in Arctic White, delicately highlighted with 24-carat gold detailing that honours the effortless power defining the modern Phantom. It serves as both tribute and testament, the final evolution of an engine whose refinement has become a Rolls-Royce signature. The Spirit of Ecstasy, recreated from the original 1925 Phantom casting, crowns this masterpiece in solid 18-carat gold, further plated in 24-carat gold for an enduring brilliance. Each figurine is individually hallmarked in London and mounted on a base of white enamel, engraved with the collection’s title. Even the classic “RR” Badge of Honourreceives a golden reinterpretation, presented in enamel and gold across the grille, tail and flanks, a subtle yet powerful gesture marking a century of prestige. The exterior itself continues this celebration of heritage through a distinctive two-tone Super Champagne Crystal paint finish over Arctic White and Black, inspired by the grace of Phantoms from the golden age of Hollywood. Metallic flakes infused with champagne-coloured particles create an ethereal shimmer under light. Completing the composition, the disc wheels feature 25 engraved lines each, 100 in total, one for every year of Phantom’s extraordinary legacy.

Crafting the Phantom’s story in form and light

While the Phantom Centenary’s silhouette retains the timeless grandeur of Phantom VIII, its design language carries subtle layers of symbolism. Every contour and surface reflects the car’s dual nature, powerful yet poised, modern yet timeless. At the heart of the cabin lies the Anthology Gallery, a dramatic centrepiece sculpted from fifty 3D-printed aluminium fins, brushed and interlaced like the pages of an open book. Each fin is etched with sculpted text drawn from historical press quotations, celebrating Phantom’s influence across decades. Gentle illumination dances along the surfaces, giving the gallery a kinetic, almost living quality. The surrounding woodwork represents the most complex and intricate marquetry ever attempted by Rolls-Royce. Crafted from stained Blackwood and enhanced with 3D multi-directional marquetry, laser etching, and 3D ink layering, each door panel depicts a significant chapter in Phantom’s history. The right-hand door traces the coast of Le Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, where Sir Henry Royce spent his winters, while the front doors capture scenes from West Wittering and the first Goodwood Phantom’s crossing of Australia. Gold-leafed roads weave through these landscapes, linking past and present in a single, fluid narrative. Every detail, from micro-engraved maps to the golden veins that trace journeys across continents. invites quiet contemplation. It is art engineered into motion, a sculpture that moves.

A century woven in thread and starlight

Inside, the Phantom Centenary Private Collection reveals an interior of breathtaking artistry a space where design, couture and technology converge in perfect harmony. The rear seats are inspired by the 1926 “Phantom of Love” and reinterpret the concept of handwoven tapestry through modern craftsmanship. Developed over twelve months in collaboration with a fashion atelier, the rear seat upholstery blends high-resolution printed imagery with 160,000 precision stitches, illustrating iconic Phantoms, historical figures, and scenes from the marque’s archives. Threads in Golden Sands and Seashell tones are applied in sketch-like, irregular lines to achieve a hand-drawn effect, a technique the Bespoke Collective poetically describes as “sketching with thread.” The front seats continue the theme with laser-etched leather, featuring hand-drawn motifs that reference pivotal moments in the marque’s history, from the “Seagull” prototype of 1923 to the “Roger Rabbit” project that heralded Rolls-Royce’s rebirth in 2003. Each mark represents a milestone in the brand’s creative evolution. Above it all, a mesmerising Starlight Headliner completes the narrative. Embroidered with 440,000 individual stitches, it recreates the mulberry tree under which Henry Royce once worked, surrounded by constellations, bees from the Goodwood apiary, and subtle homages to great Phantoms of the past. It is both artwork and atmosphere, a celestial reflection of the marque’s spirit.
